Backstory

Ace grew up in a small village full of accepting, loving miqo’te who strive on trading and fishing. His parents both are famous fishermen, bringing home gold medals from fishing tournaments almost every year. One year during a harsh storm, they sighted Leviathan in open waters, causing their little ship to crash.Luckily they both survived and ended up being rewarded for their encounter with Leviathan. Ace, determined to be the best fishermen in his tribe, set out on a journey to one up his parents by not only encountering Leviathan, but slaying the primal beast. This led him on a path away from home, full of hardships that he had never thought to experience.
After picking up his first lance in Gridania, and meeting many friends along the way, he sought to find the beast and put an end to his reign once and for all… that would have been the case if it wasn’t for all sorts obstacles getting in his way.
Laewaes: Fisherman's Sanctuary
Laewaes, also known as The Fisherman's Sanctuary, is a fairly large hamlet located south of Othard. With the population being so small, being roughly around 300, it's not a part of the Eorzean map. Laewaes remains untouched by the empire and the outside world, having few traders within the community that they depend on. If they do end up having outsiders visit, they are very friendly and open to giving out welcoming gifts, all related to fish and fishing materials.Because of their lack of interest to the outside world, they see no reason to be hostile and accept anyone. Similar to Viera, gender is a very vague concept to them. Masculine and feminine names are given to children by their birth parents, but if the child ends up wanting to change it, they are able to do so without any repercussions, this also includes gender. Naming is also not of normal miqo'te naming conventions. Instead, the parents name their child depending on accomplishments, personality, things they find great interest in, and words they learn from outsiders. Other miqo'te in the community still have traditional names of course, it all depends on the families.
Protectors of the Sea
In between the beautiful moon and the fierce sun are a tribe of miqo'te destined for the sea. A mix of both 'Seekers' and 'Keepers', these determined Protectors serve under two deities: Ebisu, God of Fishing and commerce, and Kiyomizu, Lady of the Seas and mother to its children. They have been gifted a task since birth to grant peace within the ocean, whether it is resolving conflicts or helping those in dire need. Most Protectors are blessed in wielding levin at a young age, but they seldom use it for fighting unless threatened or for personal reasons. Ace, along with a handful of others, have left their quiet tribe to start their own families outside of Eastern waters. With old traditions slowly coming to a close, the Protectors decided to continue their duties in keeping the sea safe by venturing out into unknown territories.
